Lasith Malinga taking 4 wickets in 4 balls against South Africa
The match between South Africa and Sri Lanka on March 28, 2007 has made a greatest moment for Lasith Malinga. The batting team South Africa having five wickets and five overs in hand required four runs to make their victory. Expecting that South Africa was going to win the match, the Sri Lankan bowler Malinga has turned with more difficulty and made South Africa to be stunned.
The match has made a great turnover in the delivery of 5th ball of 45th over. Pollock who smashed the ball for boundaries was beaten up by Malinga’s bowling. Consecutively the other three wickets were taken by Malinga. Andrew Hall was caught out by Tharanga where the score has been changed from 200/5 to 206/7.
Later on Sri Lanka was able to dream in their victory, as Malinga had his hat-trick in wicket taking and South Africa was in an unworthy condition. Malinga missed the last ball of the over which allowed the batsmen to go for a single.
There were only 2 more runs to win over the match by South Africa. As Chaminda Vass was bowled one of the best maiden overs, Malinga was to blow the final ball. But Peterson made a thick edge as the ball raced away to the third man boundary, which finally made a thriller victory for South Africa.
